Employers who are unable to identify a suitable Australian candidate for a post might sponsor a worker who meets the requirements of the Temporary Skill Shortage visa.

Short-term stream
Employers can overcome labor shortages by using short-term streams to bring in skilled people when they are unable to find sufficiently skilled Australian workers.
Medium-term stream
Employers can solve labor shortages by bringing in skilled individuals through the medium-term stream visa in cases when they are unable to find suitable Australian workers.
Labour agreement stream
Skilled workers nominated by employers holding a labor agreement are eligible for the labor agreement stream visa. It permits temporary residence and employment in Australia. Employers and the Australian Government (represented by the Department) negotiate labor agreements.
Subsequent entrant
Families of TSS and subclass 457 visa holders who want to join their primary visa holder in Australia but are applying separately for their own TSS visa are eligible for the subsequent entrant visa.
